ZeroGrav – May 2018 – Conquer your allergies (naturally)

It was just last week I was looking into my yard, at all the trees and their bare branches, and I was thinking how impossible yet amazing it is that all those seemingly dormant branches will be sprouting leaves soon, and how could that process possibly occur, and how long does it take?  Here we are just a week later and every one of those trees is sprouting green leaves (and even one with red leaves), quite a large amount of foliage.  Some nice color randomly dispersed throughout, some daffodils, buttercups, and purple flowering plants.  It’s like winter never happened and the yard was budding all along!

With all the plant goodness, comes allergies.  I’ve always had allergies to pollen, and it’s not a fun experience as many of us know.  It can run from mild to severe and last just days or sometimes weeks or even months… I try to avoid allergy medicines unless I really need them.  It’s typically right around May/June when all of a sudden the pollen count skyrockets, along with sales of Zyrtec and Claritin, haha.  I’m trying to get ahead of allergy season this year, and have my body adjust naturally, I have a few simple guidelines which I’ll be attempting to follow..:

  • Drink orange juice every morning.
  • Go for a run at least once a week, breathe in everything.  (In other words, don’t avoid pollen, try to adapt to it and overcome).
  • Drink lots of water every day.
  • Avoid sodas, sweets, alcohol.
  • Eat lots of fresh vegetables.
  • Keep stuff vacuumed/clean/dust-free.
  • Get some local honey.
  • Apple cider vinegar – Drink it once in a while, it works miracles.

This is a fairly simple plan, yet it’s so easy to fall off the wagon (one summer cookout later… lol), going to try it out though.  Mostly based on diet and routine, nothing extraordinary.

Hope everyone fairs well with allergy season, and please comment/share if you have any thoughts on other natural remedies.

Happy Spring,
