Almost like a mid-year performance review, however with less focus on progress and results and more a reflection on thoughts, I am taking a look back at my prior blog posts for the year. (Edit: I was originally thinking to cover only 2018 monthly posts, however it looks like I started blogging in June 2017, so this is perfect for a full-year recap!). Some things I would have stated differently, some I would have not, either way a good refresher on what was on my mind at the time. Things have really sped up as of late (work, home), thinking this reflection will be a good opportunity to slow things down a bit, and get centered again!
June 2017 – Emulate Success
My intro blog article was a bit heavy and philosophical. Some great info though for those who are open to it – Overall advice is Know what you want and be specific about it.
July 2017 – The Path to FIRE
This financial post kind of rambles on and didn’t really catch fire with people (see what I did there), however is a gold mine for anyone who starts saving Big early (a lot earlier than I did). 🙂
Don’t Be a Zombie (i.e. Forget about your smartphone)
Still love this article and I see zombies everywhere. Be wary of social media’s iron grip on your life.
Dress for Success…. Well, Sort Of!
The thing I like most about this article is the featured image (from The Wolf Among Us on xbox one). It is memorable to me. Hehe.
A world in need of more Big Shields, and less weapons :/
Sigh. There should be a giant For Hire sign in our nation stating ‘Big Shields Wanted’.
ZeroGrav – November 2017 – the dissapearing / reappearing ACL (anterior cruciate ligament)
Coming up on 2 year milestone after knee surgery. At that point I will never speak of it again. I did not have knee repair surgery, I underwent a knee regenerating wolverine-level adamantine strengthening process hehe.
Staying Sane this Holiday Season
Fun post and also enjoy this background image – Super Saiyan Goku yes indeed.
May Your Wildest Dreams Come True (i.e. Secret method to achieve goals)
I wouldn’t change much about this post – Pure magic: Write down your goals with pencil & paper, watch them come true.
Journey to Vegetarianism; Exploring Ethics, Culture, Nature, & Society Along the Way
This post is fully loaded. I’ve been veg for ~5 months now. It has been a great experience and has opened my perspective in many ways, loving it. As for the article, it was harsh on the food industry and probably comes off as very judgmental, I could have taken a different approach. I think such a significant lifestyle change needs significant emotion behind it though, even if anger is one of those . I am working on moving towards a more peaceful / relaxed way of thinking about this.
4 Reasons Facebook Has Failed Us All, & 1 Reason It Has Not
Drafted this article 1 week before Cambridge Analytica story dropped. Boom. FB and social media seeks control. If I could change one thing about this article, I would update my opinion on social media’s one redemption (Connectedness), as I think that is a bit too optimistic, and rather state that the redemption is the seeking and sharing of information, or new Perspective. We love information and it is good. If only social media would drop the big data analysis of anticipating users preferences and likes and wants, nobody asked for it, we can think for ourselves without any algorithms. Algorithms should stay in high school algebra and not come back.
ZeroGrav – April 2018 – Slower is Better?.? (When Running, Amongst Other Things)
This post helped me to come up with a couple running goals for 2018, so overall it was beneficial. I’m not too happy with the content though as I was really reaching on this one, could have been more patient (haha, ironic) in drafting this.
ZeroGrav – May 2018 – Conquer your allergies (naturally)
So far so good! I have had a few dizzy episodes and sneezing, yet have held imagined Pollen Allergy Monster at bay for the most part. Pure power in simple remedies.
The past year of blogging has been good, I have enjoyed it. Helps me to get out what I am thinking and then build upon it further. Writing in an online format is a learning process for me (for ex., I noticed I didn’t include the Months in each post title, even though they are listed in chronological format, it is one of many small details to consider), and it is also challenging to build an audience. I think I have like 10 regular readers, and one time peaked around 50 readers when I really advertised this thing, haha. THANKS to those who read though and let me know if you’d like to see articles on anything else specific in the future, and keep sharing/commenting with your thoughts as well.
Suppose will close with one of my favorite quotes, as I think it fits this site quite well:
‘All battles are first won or lost, in the mind’ ~ Joan of Arc.
until next month,
